Winter is Coming. Winter is Here.

November 15, 2017

For many parts of the world, this is the time of year when the leaves turn to gold, the air turns crisp, and we are inspired to add a few extra layers of cozy warmth before heading out of doors. At Eminence Organic Skin Care, colder weather means we provide necessary added moisture and protection for dry lips and skin. In order to provide the very best organic skin care year round, we depend upon the very best ingredients. As we transition from the autumn months to winter, Eminence Organics takes great care to prepare the garden fields at our award-winning Eminence Certified Organic Farm in Budapest, Hungary.

Biodynamic® farming methods harness the power of the seasons, following the delicate patterns of the sun, moon and stars, and preparing the soil for the joyful spring to come in a few short months.

Here are a few of our favorite things to do in preparation for winter on the farm:

  1. Dedicating fallow fields: Soil needs to be replenished on a regular basis so it can nourish the seeds that are planted within its layers. Here at Eminence Organic Skin Care, that means we give our earth time to rest, restore and refresh by keeping different fields of the farm “unplanted” or “fallow” during different times of the year.
  1. Tilling natural soil: Each season, our farmers harvest all plants completely. Then, organic fertilizer and the rich compost is placed on top of the new soil. We don’t import any dirt for our organic farm. You’ll notice that the dirt here looks very light, like silt or soft sand. Well, that’s because this area of Hungary was once completely underwater! After the compost is in place, the hard work begins! Farmers hand-turn the compost into the soil using shovels, hoes and rakes. Then, the field is left to rebuild strength for several weeks until it’s time to plant the next season.
  1. Composting beds: Nothing goes to waste on our certified organic farm. Here, Eminence Organic Skin Care fills our compost beds with plant clippings at the end of each working day, and top with hay to insulate the cut plants. The warmth encourages the plants to breakdown more quickly into a rich, nutritious and dense organic material used to strengthen the existing soil. Five compost beds stand ready to be filled with the leftovers from the last great harvest.
  1. Placing symbols to represent harvest and protection: Our award-winning team includes Landscape Architect of the Year, Gábor Szűcs, who carefully and intentionally placed symbols of great harvest, abundance and protection strategically around our farm. We believe in the power of positivity, and these symbols inspire lots of it!

Eminence Organic Skin Care for Winter Care

For the Lips: Once you are properly bundled and ready to venture out into the cold, we know you’ll love the ultra protection and added moisture of Eminence Organics Rosehip & Lemongrass Lip Balm SPF 15.

This Eminence Organics lip balm draws its moisturizing properties from ingredients like rosehip oil and organic extra virgin olive oil rather than petroleum, wax or lanolin. Formulated to smooth and hydrate dry lips, it is enriched with rosehip oil packed with EFAs, vitamins C and E and betacarotene, and olive oil containing vitamins A and E for dry skin. These oils mimic the sebum naturally produced by our bodies, resulting in long-term hydration for the lips.

For the Skin: The powerful juice of stone crop gives the skin instant, deep-penetrating moisture that leaves skin with a smooth matte finish. We utilize the efficacy of this organic ingredient grown on our farm in many ways, including our Eminence Organics Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer. This effective moisturizer heals, reduces the appearance of irritation and gently clarifies the look of the skin.

You can buy the Eminence Organics Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer and the Eminence Organics Rosehip & Lemongrass Lip Balm SPF 15 at an Eminence Organics spa near you.
