It’s hard to believe that the grand entrance to the Eminence Certified Organic Farm has been open to guests and visitors around the world for over 2 years. We recently sat down with Attila Koronczay, who was honored with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for his valued work building Eminence Organic Skin Care, and who currently oversees the natural, organic, and Biodynamic® farm production, product development and manufacturing in Hungary.
Here is what he had to say about looking back at the past 2 years since the farm’s inception.
Q: Two years later, are you surprised by the Eminence Certified Organic Farm’s warm reception by the global community?
Attila Koronczay: It truly is heart-warming beyond words. This project started as a way for us to share our love of organic farming and our pride for our country, Hungary. We are so happy that people are enjoying the farm as much as we hoped they would.
Q: The Eminence Certified Organic Farm won several awards. Which award is your favorite?
Attila Koronczay: Hmmm… Can I have more than one? We won Landscape Architect of the Year, Garden of the Year, Organic Farmer of the Year… But, I think the most surprising and touching award was the official ordainment as a town landmark, a certified recognition by the Mayor of the nearby village, Fülöpjakab. This official title is the first step in becoming a nationally-registered Heritage Landmark in the entire country of Hungary. This was presented to me at our opening celebration, and this seal is quite an honor for the entire Koronczay family and the dedicated farm team.
Q: How often do you get to visit the farm?
Attila Koronczay: As often as possible! We come home to visit with our family several times each year. Our parents visit and manage the farm regularly. We always make time to enjoy the garden and visit with our farm family when we are there. We recently were able to bring some beauty and wellness experts and team-members from our Eminence Organic Skin Care family to the farm. I never get tired of showcasing the details of each feature to educate others about the rich farming heritage of Hungary.
Then, we also had the biggest contest in Eminence Organics history where we had not one, but TWO winners we were able to bring to visit the farm. There is nothing better than seeing the faces of people who see the farm for the first time.
Q: Were you happy when the miniature model of the farm arrived at your Vancouver office?
Attila Koronczay: It’s actually quite large! You’d be surprised. The detail included in the model is exquisite. And, yes, it did help to bring a little bit of the farm to come live with us so far away from Hungary. We then carefully transported the model all the way down to Las Vegas for the 2017 ISPA Expo so everyone could share it with us. That was so much fun!
Q: What are you most proud of regarding the Eminence Certified Organic Farm?
Attila Koronczay: For me and my brother, the farm is something bigger than us, bigger than our family. It’s bigger even than Eminence Organic Skin Care. This organic farm represents all that we believe in and is a living and breathing beautiful working farm that can live longer than any of us. My dream is that the farm will continue the legacy of Eminence Organics indefinitely, and for that… we do not have words to express our gratitude for everyone who helped bring it to life.
