8 Natural Ingredients To Treat Signs of Aging

June 18, 2017

Isn’t it generous of Mother Nature to provide us with all the bounty we need to achieve a youthful and glowing complexion? Here at Eminence Organics, we turn to the natural benefits of herbs to provide some of the most diverse skin care ingredients on the planet. These herbs can be incorporated into a healthy diet and a healthy skin care routine to address signs of aging.

At the Eminence Certified Organic Farm, we know that what we put into and onto our body should create a natural harmony between plants harvested at the peak of the season and the all-natural, organic skin care products that we create from these plants, allowing us to bring the bounty of our farm right to your spa or your home.Wondering which herbs you should consider adding to your skin care routine to address your signs of aging? Which herbs help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and which help to promote a more youthful and hydrated glow? Here are eight herbs that are skin care powerhouses, along with suggestions on easy ways to incorporate them into your skin care routine.

Paprika

Derived from the capsicum pepper family, paprika is as powerful as it is colorful. The finest quality of paprika in the world hails from Hungary, and it is a staple in our cuisine.

Rich in Vitamins A and C, paprika has been shown to absorb free radicals that can break down collagen in the skin. This vibrant spice is also rich in beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A to lessen the appearance of wrinkles and promote an even complexion. For a simple way to incorporate the many benefits of paprika into your facial skin care routine, we recommend visiting a professional spa to experience the Eminence Organics Paprika Herbal Treatment, which promotes skin circulation and leaves you with a radiant and rosy glow. And don’t forget to address signs of aging on your neck and décolletage area. For a powerful boost to sagging skin, rejuvenate and tighten with our Hibiscus Ultra Lift Neck Cream, which combines the flower extract with natural hyaluronic acid and paprika to ensure your neck stays smooth and firm.
Eminence Organics Echinacea Recovery Cream

Echinacea

The pretty purple, pink, orange, white and yellow flowers of the Echinacea family of plants grown on our farm are a gardener’s favorite. Echinacea’s perennial foliage and known healing properties make it a powerful choice in skin care, too. This natural remedy is a great protector of the skin against the elements. When applied topically, Echinacea can help regulate signs of eczema and psoriasis. It also has both antibacterial and antibiotic properties. Incorporate this powerful herb into your daily routine with Eminence Organics Echinacea Recovery Cream, which reduces visible signs of aging while moisturizing and revitalizing your complexion. Reveal a more radiant, even-toned complexion thanks to the Echinacea Recovery Cream’s blend of Echinacea, aloe vera, yarrow herb and evening primrose oil. You can also enhance your skin care routine by enjoying a cozy cup of immune boosting tea, blended with plenty of honey and lemon—a traditional Hungarian remedy!

Rosehips

Rosehip oil has long been a secret weapon of natural skin care enthusiasts, who praise its lightweight non-greasy moisturizing abilities. Rosehip oil is particularly great for those of us concerned with skin aging, due to its ability to penetrate deep into skin layers, which means that radiance is boosted from deep within. Loaded with Vitamins C and E, rosehip oil stimulates collagen production, giving your skin a more youthful texture. Essential fatty acids are also plentiful in rosehip oil, improving skin tone and softening the look of pigmentation. For a gentle, non-irritating addition to your skin care routine, consider our Rosehip Triple C+E Firming Oil to hydrate and protect your complexion while depositing long-term gains in your vitamin bank! This is a spa industry favorite.

St. John’s Wort

Another important herb produced at the Eminence Certified Organic Farm is St. John’s Wort. This popular herb produces a vibrant yellow flower that is packed with benefits. A study published in Cell and Molecular Neurobiology found that the antioxidant properties in St. John’s Wort make this herb an effective tool to combat harmful free radicals that can accelerate the visible signs of aging. Soothe and calm your visage with the Eminence Organics Calm Skin Arnica Masque, which works to accelerate cell regeneration for a healthy glow. Regular use of this mask will expose your skin to the benefits of St. John’s Wort combined with vitamin C-rich ivy leaf and moisturizing shea butter.

Lavender

Lavender field at the Eminence Certified Organic FarmOne of the most recognizable herbs on the farm, beloved for its soothing scent and color, lavender boasts calming and restorative skin care properties as well. Best known for its ability to soothe tension and promote relaxation and sleep, studies have also found lavender to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits when applied topically in skin care products.  Because the skin around the eye area can be especially sensitive and prone to showing signs of aging, incorporating lavender into your routine can reap major benefits in revealing a more youthful complexion – especially around the delicate eye area. We recommend our award-winning Lavender Age Corrective Night Eye Cream, which works with our unique Anti-Aging Stem Cell Complex to fight the appearance of crow’s feet while you sleep.

Turmeric

Turmeric has long been touted for its amazing anti-inflammatory properties, and new research has shown that curcumin, the yellow pigment and one of the most important active ingredients in turmeric, can slow the process of cellular aging. Also, when it comes to extending the youthful appearance of skin, curcumin is also an antibacterial, antifungal powerhouse that can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots significantly. To reveal a brighter and more even complexion, we recommend incorporating our Bright Skin Targeted Treatment into your skin care routine. You’ll be combining this powerful ancient herb with our modern effective ingredient blends such as Gigawhite™, which harnesses the power of Swiss alpine plants to reduce the appearance of dark spots.

Peppermint

Peppermint is a great antibacterial and purifying antioxidant, making it a natural winner for addressing signs of aging. One area to be mindful not to overlook during your skin care routine is your lips. Make sure yours maintain a youthful radiant look with  Eminence Organics’ Citrus Lip Balm, a petroleum-free treat for lips that incorporates peppermint’s antioxidant powers with sunflower seed wax (rich in vitamins A, D and E), calming shea butter and lemon balm. Lips will appear plumper with a satin sheen finish, giving your smile a healthy glow!

Evening Primrose

Primrose field at the Eminence Certified Organic FarmEvening primrose flowers open their petals on cloudy rainy days and after sunset, making them a unique flower! The benefits of evening primrose oil, derived from the seed of the primrose plant, are just as unique. This calming and restorative oil is full of omega-6 fatty acids, which helps to support the skin barrier by retaining moisture and remaining flexible. Enjoy the power of primrose by adding the Primrose & Melon Balancing Masque to your skincare routine. Extracts of calendula, evening primrose and jojoba boost the skin with fatty acids for skin regeneration, while watermelon nourishes and balances the skin with vitamins A, B and C. Just like you, this masque likes to multitask!

All-natural skin care is definitely the spice of life. Herbs are an excellent way to incorporate the beauty of the natural world into your own beauty regimen. Loaded with vitamins, nutrients, antioxidants and other compounds with proven restorative properties, herbs deserve a spot in your skin care regimen just as much as in your spice rack!

I’m only 39, but I’m worried about gett crepey skin like my mother’s, but I don’t want to use products that have chemicals in them. Thanks for mentioning that rosehip oil stimulates collagen in your skin to make it look younger. I might try to find an organic anti-aging serum that has rosehip oil in it.

I really appreciate your tip on how lavender oil can have a lot of benefits when it is applied to your skin. My wife told me that she is nervous that her recent history of breakouts on her face is going to cause some acne to come up before her job interview. I will be sure to tell her that lavender oil might able to help her face!
