Lángos Oven
A trip to Hungary would not be complete without indulging in lángos (lahng-osh). This bread is traditionally baked over a wood-burning oven, then spread with fresh garlic, butter, Hungarian sour cream and sharp cheese for a hearty meal that would keep hardworking farmers fed all day.
Outdoor Kitchen
A curated collection of items actually used on nearby farm kitchens in Hungary. These handmade bowls would have been used for mixing the lángos dough. The woven water pitcher would keep water cool despite of the noon sun. And butter was handmade in the wooden churn for decades.

A Closer Look
On special occasions, we bake lángos according to secret family recipes. Although you’ll often find lángos is fried, we are partial to fresh lángos baked in a wood oven.
Washboard
This oft-used tool from 1893 was certainly well loved. This is a traditional washboard and the owner took care to carve her initials and year into the piece. She would have used this to scrub clothing and towels when washing by hand.

Oven Door
So different than the modern oven doors we have today! Strong iron doors and latch secure the lángos oven to keep wood burning safely.
The Wood Pile
Our Eminence Organics caretakers regularly stock the woodpile with hand-cut branches to keep our lángos oven ready for cooking action!

Hand-Carved Details
No detail has been overlooked in making the beauty and design of the Eminence Certified Organic Farm. Even the wooden posts and thatch roof support beams have been hand-carved with intricate, soothing patterns. The zig zag carvings are intended to represent the way sunrays shine down upon the earth.
Chimney
Once the lángos is nice and toasty, the smoke escapes through this little chimney. We think it looks like a house! This little bird found the perfect perch on a sunny day for a “bird’s eye” view of our farm.
