1. Chamomile & Lavender Tea
If the flu has your stomach in knots and your mind feeling uneasy, a hot cup of organic chamomile and lavender tea can help. The soothing scent of lavender is known to calm the mind and put you at ease. Both chamomile and lavender reduce stress, aid in digestion, promote sleep and act as natural anti-inflammatories (Organic Facts). Follow the recipe below for the perfect natural remedy when the flu’s got the best of you:
- 1 cup boiling water

Boil Water. Place lavender and chamomile buds into a tea strainer and pour hot water over. Allow to steep for about 10 minutes.

2. Peppermint Tea
Peppermint is used for its varied healing properties and is a fantastic natural remedy for the common cold. Peppermint contains menthol, a natural decongestant that also calms inflamed mucous membranes in the sinuses and throat (The Spruce). The aroma of peppermint can also boost mental performance and promote focus, helping clear the fog of a head cold (Livestrong). If you can’t shake the sniffles, get some relief with the recipe below:
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 tablespoons organic fresh or dry peppermint leaves
- Optional: organic honey (to taste)
Boil Water. Place peppermint leaves into a tea strainer and pour hot water over. Allow to steep for about 5 minutes. For additional throat soothing add honey to taste.

3. Echinacea Tea
Arguably one of the best known natural remedies for the flu, echinacea has a slew of benefits. As we’ve previously mentioned, not only is echinacea used to fight off a bug in the first place but it can also zap bacteria. Echinacea tea contains vitamins and minerals that provide an extra boost to your immune system (Natural Living Ideas). Echinacea tea doesn’t taste the best on its own, so we recommend this Eminence Organics recipe:
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 teaspoon organic dried echinacea
- 1 organic lemon
- 1 teaspoon organic honey
Pour boiling water over the dried echinacea and let it steep for 15 minutes. Strain out the herb, then squeeze in the juice of one lemon and add stir in the honey.
